Cheap Air Purifiers

>> Tuesday, August 19, 2014

Recent studies have established it for a fact that indoor air is more polluted than outdoor air and this can be to the level of 2 to 10 times higher than the outdoor pollution level. Such a fact is indeed scary, especially after you know that so much is being done to bring down the levels of outdoor pollution.

Previously all you could do was open the windows of your house to let fresh air come in. although this works to a certain extent, it hardly is enough. There are plenty of places in our rooms where dust can hide. And fresh air from outside wouldn't be able to drive dust away from those regions. These days however you have the option of installing an air purifier at your place and enjoy clean and fresh air all day in your home.

If you are thinking that will mean a considerable investment, then you might be mistaken. There are purifiers available which come as cheap as $100. Of course there are expensive variations. But if you have a tight budget and you think that the air inside your room is not healthy to breathe in then invest on one of these cheap air purifiers. They will not be as efficient as the more sophisticated models, but still the air quality in your room will improve significantly.

Only trust those reviews that list both the pros and the cons of each of the models. They shouldn't be promoting one purifier while trashing the others. In such a case, the reviews have to be biased.

Most of them do come with HEPA filters. So you also need to check if the replacement filters are not too expensive. Sometimes even if the unit is cheap the filters turn out to be much too expensive. Or they are required to be changed after short periods.

Before you select a particular model, do get some homework done. There are a whole range of models available, so don't just settle for the one you see first. There are things to consider. Price is only one of the factors. You also need to think about the features, the capacity, the filter, etc. the best place to get your research done.

There is plenty of literature available on various models. Read through them to get a better understanding. There are also websites which allow you to compare products on the basis of price and features. These are great places to form an idea about what the market has on offer. These websites also carry information regarding special discounts offered by any vendors.

Air Purifier: Breathe Fresh Air

Air purifier, as the name suggests, cleans the air, which we breathe in. We all are aware of the ever-increasing amount of pollution around us and its adverse affects our health. An air purifier reduces the amount of dirt and germs in the air around us and gives us better quality of life.

 Functioning of an Air Purifier

The air may contain various substances that cause irritation to your internal or external organs. The examples of ailments caused by impure air are: asthma, bronchitis, and irritation in eyes, nose or skin. The main job of the air purifier is to remove all the harmful and allergy-causing substances from the air. These are present in the air in the form of dust particles, unsafe smoke from vehicles or other sources and pollen from plants etc.

Kinds of Air purifiers

Different air purifiers use different systems for air purification. They may use either charcoal absorbents or mechanical filters. The other variants include electronic purifier and Ultra Violet Air Purifier. Ionic Filtration is yet another technique but its use is controversial, as some people believe that it emits negative ions. Buy the air purifier that has HEPA filters, as the concerned authorities certify these filters.

 Be Sure, Before You Procure

While purchasing an air purifier, you must consider whether your problem actually requires an air purifier. If the answer is yes, then you can study various features of each model and choose the one which best suits your needs. Do not go for a very cheap model as they tend be very less effective. To compare the efficiency of different models, you can look for its CADR or Clean Air Delivery Rating.

Besides purifying the air around us, electronic air purifiers are easy to install and do not involve complex wiring. They take up less power and hence marginal electric charges. There running noise is also negligible.

The only clear disadvantage of an air purifier is its high cost. However, just like other consumer durables, its prices are likely to fall, as the demand rises. Another shortcoming is that its collection plates in an electronic air purifier need regular cleaning.

Besides household use, many industries, where hygiene is important, also use air purifiers. Try using it and see the difference for yourself. The industrial and household demand for air purifier is rising significantly. Go for an air purifier and enjoy clean air.

Cheap Air Purifiers - 5 Ways To Avoid Making Them Expensive Mistakes

Everybody wants the most bang for their buck these days, and so we are often asked about the cheapest air purifier. A cheap air purifier is only cheap if it does what you want it to, and you purchase it for a good price. If, however, you purchase a purifier for any price, and it does not solve your problem, or solve it for a reasonable amount of time, then it is, in fact not cheap, but an expensive mistake. Here are 3 ways to avoid making a \"cheap\" air purifier an expensive mistake.

 1. Decide how much square footage you need to clean by measuring your space. If your space is 15 feet by 15 feet, you need to clean 300 square feet. Be sure to look for a purifier that will effectively clean that amount of space or even slightly more.

 2. Decide on what pollutants to want to remove. A purifier that is designed to remove pet odor might not be as effective in removing airborne chemicals. So check very carefully to see what pollutants the filter in the air purifier is best at removing, and that it matches the pollutants you need to remove.

 3. Check to make sure the air purifier you purchase is made of steel rather than plastic. Plastic air purifiers generally cost less, but in return some give off fumes that are generated once the motor gets warm. This is called out-gassing. If out-gassing occurs, not only will you have the pollutants that you were trying to get rid of initially, but your \"cheap\" air purifier will actually add pollutants to your environment. You surely do not need to pay money for that.

 4. Check to see that the manufacturer or retailer has a reasonable return policy. Trying out the air purifier in your space is one of the best ways to see if you have the air purifier that is best for the pollutants you need to remove, and the space you want to clean. A 30-day return policy is generally the standard policy, and will give you time to decide. If a company really believes in their product the return policy will be something they are proud of!

 5. Make sure that the air purifier you purchase has a really good warranty. Cheap air purifiers might offer a 30 day warranty. But if something goes wrong with the purifier in 30 days, and if you have no recourse, the air purifier was not cheaper, as you will need to buy another one if you want to clean your air. Air purifiers that will stand the test of time are often warranted for as much as 5 years! If you do the math--divide the price of the purifier by 1825 days (the number of days in 5 years), you will see that the cost per day really makes it a cheap air purifier.

Once you decide how much space you need to clean, the pollutants you need to remove, check the construction of the air purifier, the return policy, and the warranty, you can make the best decision about your air purifier, and ultimately get the cheapest air purifier because it will do what you need it to do.

Are Air Purifiers Worth Buying?

>> Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Do you own an air purifier? Or have you ever thought about buying one? Consider that we breathe 24/7, if we don't breathe we die. So we have no choice we have to breathe. But what is the quality of the air we breathe? Do we really know what the quality of the air that we breathe is? Or maybe you don't care. Air purifiers help clean and purify the air we breathe thus making it healthier and cleaner for us.

Everything we put into our body affects our health. So since we breathe air day in and day out it is important that we get the best possible air that we can breathe. By owning an air purifier you stand a much better chance of breathing healthy air. Since we do not have an easy test we can take to show with data how our health is now, and then how it would be after a week of breathing healthy air it becomes difficult to prove the value to someone.

I know when I first started to look at buying an air purifier I had sticker shock. I couldn't believe the amount a good one cost. And keep in mind you get what you pay for, so if you go cheap, you will get cheap. If you look at the cost to value of owning an air purifier you cannot really put a price tag on it. After all how much is your health really worth? If breathing good clean air helps you be healthier it is a no brainer.

Go do some research and find out for yourself. Find independent studies, they are not biased and will give you the straight story. Then when you do the research first study about what air purifiers can and can't do. Then go look into the different brands, they are not all created equal. And by no means am I suggesting that the most expensive is necessarily the best, but I will tell you the cheapest is not worth the money. And if you get a cheap unit which does not give you the quality you will believe they are not effective and likely won't ever get one again.

Something else to consider is the operating cost of an air purifier. It is not only the initial upfront cost, but there are filters that need to be changed in some machines, others have plates that need to be washed. The machine I have is about 10 years old and I have cleaned the plates about 2-3 times a year. No additional out of pocket cost to me.

You may also want to consider why you are buying an air purifier. If you have pets in the house, or a smoker the air purifier will help with the odor, but not all do the same thing. So keep this in mind as well when you go looking for a model. So make sure you read the specifications and know what it is you are buying before you purchase.

There you have it, some good things to consider when looking for an air purifier. Keep in mind that the value of your health is priceless. And an air purifier will only help.
